Apple Punch recipe

A delicious drink to serve at an autumn bonfire night party. Make it hot if the night is really cold and serve it from thermos flasks. Make a non-alcoholic version for youngsters and drivers!

Serves: 6

Prep time: 5 min

Ingredients

1 litre sparkling or flat cider or clear apple juice
Juice of 1 orange and 1 lemon
1 vanilla pod
Pinch mixed spice or ginger or a few whole cloves
To serve:
1 orange and 1 apple, peeled and sliced
Ice cubes (optional)
Colourful straws

Method

1. To serve cold: chill the cider first. Pour into a large jug with the other ingredients and return to the fridge for the vanilla and spice flavours to blend. Serve in long glasses with ice and a slice of fruit.

2. To serve hot: pour the cider into a pan, add the other ingredients and bring just to the boil. Leave to cool a little, remove the vanilla and pour into large thermos flasks with the sliced fruit or pour straight into heatproof glasses or mugs, with slices of fruit.
